DL LABS APPROVED FOR TESTING OF
LEAD ABATEMENT PRODUCTS UNDER THE COMMONWEALTH
OF MASSACHUSETTS
ENCAPSULATION PRODUCT

PERFORMANCE PROTOCOL

DL Labs has been approved by the Massachusetts Dept. of Public Health to test and evaluate lead encapsulant coatings for approval under their Encapsulation Product Performance Protocol. Under this protocol, manufacturers of such coatings will submit their materials to the DL Labs and have them tested for conformance to the requirements outlined in ASTM E 1795. The products are also subjected to a toxicological assessment to determine if there are any health risks and their suitability for use by contractors. The product literature and information sheets are reviewed and if approved, an authorized seal of approval is affixed to all products. All products are retested on a yearly basis for selected tests to assure that various properties of the coating, such as their adhesion, abrasion and permeability have not changed.

The Massachusetts Protocol has served as an example for many states. When accepted by Massachusetts, such products will automatically be accepted by states that recognize this protocol.  DL Labs is the only testing lab that has been approved by Massachusetts for this testing.
